The Stadtmuseum Werdohl is a local history museum in the small town of Werdohl, set in the Arnsberg region of North Rhine-Westphalia. It opened in 1989 in a building on Goethestrasse before moving to the former railway station in 2013. The museum underwent major renovation in 2003 and again after its relocation. The Werdohler Heimat- und Geschichtsverein, founded in 1983 with around 100 members, runs the museum alongside the town council. The association focuses on cultural preservation, local history research and collaboration with regional heritage groups.

The museum’s displays trace Werdohl’s transformation from a rural village to an industrial town. One section explores early iron and wire production, a trade that shaped the area’s economy. Another looks at how mobility and transport developed over time. A third examines changes in work and daily life since the 1860s. Temporary exhibitions and guided trips complement the permanent displays. The museum also works with the Sauerländischer Gebirgsverein and is part of the Märkische Technikstraße network.

Visitors find a mix of objects, documents and photographs arranged in clear themes. The former station building itself, with its historic platform and ticket hall, adds to the atmosphere. A section on local homes shows how people once lived. Another room covers the town’s religious, civic and administrative history. Regular talks and special shows bring these stories to life. The setting beside the railway line reminds visitors of Werdohl’s long connection to transport and industry.
