Museum Schloss Fürstenberg

Museum Schloss Fürstenberg is a porcelain and company museum in Fürstenberg, a village in the Holzminden district of Lower Saxony. It stands in a former porcelain factory building that dates from the mid-18th century. The museum presents the 270-year history of the Fürstenberg porcelain manufactory, the only porcelain museum in northern Germany.
The collection includes pieces from the factory’s early years in the Rococo period through to modern times. A glass cube in one of the oldest rooms now houses a display of rare 18th-century figures, 19th-century curiosities and 20th-century design classics. A tall wall cabinet shows early porcelain from the Reichmann collection. Visitors can watch craftspeople demonstrate traditional porcelain-making techniques in the workshop.
The museum occupies a white-painted half-timbered interior that was restored in the late 20th century. Temporary exhibitions change regularly, while the permanent display rotates selected objects from the extensive collection. The building itself was once part of the factory complex and has been adapted to house the displays without losing its historic character.
