Burg Seffent stands in Seffent, a north-western district of Aachen, as a medieval castle built of sandstone rubble. Its history begins in Carolingian times when it served as a farmstead for the Lotharingian duchy. By the 17th century the site had grown into a four-winged structure with defensive features.

The castle’s architecture reflects its military past. A round tower with a conical roof crowns the north-east corner, while a massive semi-circular keep guards the eastern flank. Inside, three old fireplaces survive from earlier centuries. Drawings by the Aachen architect Laurenz Mefferdatis in 1722 show the castle split into two parts by a dividing wall.

After decades of neglect following the Second World War, restoration in the 1980s turned the buildings into fourteen private flats and a restaurant. The outer walls still enclose a former moat, and the two towers remain prominent landmarks on the site.
