Neue Pfarrkirche Pasching

The Neue Pfarrkirche Pasching is a modern Roman Catholic parish church in the village of Pasching, part of the Linz-Land district in Upper Austria. It stands as the parish church dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and has been protected as a listed monument since 2024. The building replaced an older church and now serves as a parish sub-community within the larger TraunerLand parish under the Diocese of Linz.
The church was completed in 1980 following designs by Gottfried Nobl, the master builder of Linz Cathedral. The artistic direction of the project was led by Günter Rombold, a priest and art historian. Nobl’s design reflects the liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council, creating a flexible worship space. The building combines contemporary architecture with traditional religious elements. Its clean lines and functional layout set it apart from older church structures in the region.
Inside, the church features a bright, open interior with a central altar area surrounded by seating. Natural light enters through large windows, illuminating the simple furnishings. The interior design emphasises clarity and participation, reflecting the reforms of the 1960s. The exterior is marked by a low, rectangular form with a flat roof and clean facades. The church blends into the surrounding residential area while standing as a landmark of modern sacred architecture in Upper Austria.
